Prevent Injuries While Moving with These Ergonomic Lifting Tips

Although the moving men will handle most of the heavy lifting, you will probably have to lift at least a few boxes when moving to a new home. Use these safe lifting techniques to prevent injury during your relocation:

  • Bend at the Hips

Keep your chest forward in order to pick up a box or other heavy objects without injury. Bend at the hips instead of the low back. When you move toward the ground with your hips and bend your knees, keep your back straight. This will dramatically lower the risk for muscle strain or joint injury. Good posture will help you safely get your home ready for the movers to transport your belongings to the new house.

  • Do Not Twist

Twisting your body while lifting something heavy will lead to an injury. Instead of twisting, keep your shoulders and hips in line at all times.   • Use Your Legs
